Testimonial in Flight Training Magazine

Memorable First Solo; by Ken McCalister, Student Pilot

This morning my CFI, Mike Walsh, cut the tail off my work shirt. First solo! Two touch and goes and a full stop went through without a hitch. The smile on Mike's face and his firm handshake assured me I had done well. To the experienced in aviation, this must be casual, if not mundane-but to me, the thrill of flying a plane by myself for the first time is an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. I wonder how many pilots can vividly remember their first solo, and I urge your readers to share their first solo experiences as well.
